TRYOUTS

TRYOUTS

We will have teams in the Juniors, 50/70, Majors, AAA, AA, A, and T-Ball divisions.

To assist the league and coaches with forming teams, tryouts/assessments are required for specific age groups. Our 2020 Tryout/Assessment day will be January 25th at Rasmussen Park, in Cameron Park.  Skills such as batting, throwing, fielding, and running will be performed at the tryout/assessment.

Each player from 6-13 years old will be assigned a time slot in which they will be assessed within their specific age group.  Your player’s tryout/assessment will be 30 minutes long. Parents, please plan on arriving to the field at a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their assigned time slot to check-in your player and allow them to warm up their arms/stretch.  Once their tryout/assessment is complete, you are done for the day!

The tryout schedule and time slots will be sent out the weekend of January 18/19.  If there are any conflicts (other sports, sick) please email [email protected].

Please note that tryouts/assessments will be held rain or shine.  In the event of rain, Hard90 in El Dorado Hills has graciously donated lanes in their facility to host indoors.  Thank You Hard90! Check our Facebook page and website, Pondolittleleague.com, for any updates or changes to the location or schedule.  Updates will be posted at 7am on the day of tryouts/assessments.

Your player should bring a hat, baseball glove, cleats, and bat to the field for their tryout/assessment.  If your player has a batting helmet, bring that also. If you do not have a batting helmet, one will be provided at the field for your player to use.  If we are forced to move indoors, tennis shoes will be worn instead of cleats.

In the past we had tryouts in the AA - 50/70 divisions. Players previously signed up for specific divisions, which sometimes did not create parity or similar competition in all divisions.

For the 2020 season we will be holding assessments for specific age groups related to your player’s little league age.  This will start with the 6 year old age group and continue with each age up to 13 years old.

The T-Ball division teams and 5 year olds will be formed by the Division Coordinators.  There will be no draft or assessment for theses specific age groups. These divisions are specifically intended to introduce the game of baseball and a new skill set

Single A and AA Division Coordinators will determine what division is appropriate for that particular player due to skill level in the younger age groups.  These divisions are specifically intended for player development that will prepare them for upper competitive divisions and the draft process.

For the AAA and above levels, the draft process will determine what division a particular player will play in. Managers will assess the player’s skill level at the tryout/assessment.  If a Manager drafts a particular player for that division, which will be the deciding factor in which they compete in. The Division Coordinator and PLL Board will have the option to intercede based on a safety concern to any of the players.

We look forward to a great upcoming season and cannot wait to playball!
